Poets Jónína Kirton and Deborah L. Kelly are featured May 16th at Spoken INK. Readings begin at 8:00 p.m. at the Burnaby Arts Council’s Deer Lake Gallery, 6584 Deer Lake Avenue. Readings will be preceded by a manuscript critiquing workshop, 7:00 p.m. Open Mic to follow featured speakers.

Jónína Kirton is a prairie born Métis/Icelandic poet, graduated from the Simon Fraser University’s Writer’s Studio in 2007. Jónína received the 2016 Mayor's Arts Award for Emerging Artist under the Literary Arts category. Her second collection of poetry, An Honest Woman, was released just in time for the 2017 Poetry Month (again with Talonbooks).

Deborah L. Kelly is an award winning poet who features regularly throughout the Lower Mainland. She is the author of three published books of poetry, and is currently working on her fourth. Her work has been published in India, Uzbekistan and other countries as well.
Deborah's work takes us into the duality of spirit and mortality; exploring the mysteries of humanity and Divinity. “As a poet, I feel it a part of my purpose to inspire and uplift others around me.” Among some of her awards, Deborah was awarded the (WIN) Writer’s International Network, Distinguished Poet Award, 2016, and received Honorable Mention in the Bharat Int’l Short Story Competition, 2017.
