Tuesday, June 15th -- 2010 Finale at Spoken INK!

Spoken INK is very pleased to present two special guests on June 15th — Pam Galloway and Clélie Rich! It’s our last event before we take our summer break, so be sure to join us for an evening brimming with poetry! Open mic sign-up (no set theme) is at 7:30 p.m., and the readings begin at 8:00 p.m.

Please Note: Spoken INK’s new location is La Fontana Caffe at 3701 East Hastings in North Burnaby (NE corner of Boundary and Hastings).

Pam Galloway was born in northern England and now lives in Vancouver. Her poetry is published widely in literary magazines and anthologies, and on the website of the Canadian Parliamentary Poet Laureate. In 2008/2009 one of Pam’s poems traveled on the Skytrain and buses as part of “Poetry In Transit”. She worked collaboratively with Quintet, a group of poets in Vancouver, to produce their poetry collection, Quintet: Themes and Variations, (Ekstasis Editions 1998). Her first book of poetry, Parallel Lines, was published in 2006 (Ekstasis Editions). Recently, her poetry was included in the photographic/poetry collection A Verse Map of Vancouver. She has an MFA in creative writing from UBC.

Clélie Rich is a poet and freelance editor. Her chapbook, In All Her Rooms, won the 1994 Hawthorne Poetry Award, and, along with Pam Galloway, she is one of the five Vancouver women poets featured in Quintet: Themes & Variations (Ekstasis Press, 1998). As a freelance editor, Clélie works with publishers of all sizes, corporations, and individual writers. As part of the editorial collective that publishes Room magazine, she gets to publish one of the best literary magazines in Canada. Clélie shares her patch of East Van with her cat, a herb garden, two pyramids worth of Mason bees, a wormery, and almostbut-not-quiteenough books. Her name rhymes with “daily”.

Also on June 15th, Brown’s Books (across Hastings from La Fontana — will be offering a 20 percent discount for all Spoken INKsters, 5:30-7:30 PM!

Spoken INK is presented by the Burnaby Writers' Society on the third Tuesday of each month (except July and August). To be added to Spoken INK's sporadic reminder list, please send your email address to!
