SPOKEN INK Guest Readers April 16

Elaine Woo is the author of two poetry collections: Put Your Hand in Mine, Signature Editions, released this spring, and Cycling with Dragon, Nightwood Editions, 2014. She is a graduate of the UBC creative writing program. Elaine's poetry and artwork has appeared internationally in Otoliths, Prism International, Grain Magazine, The Elephants, The Maynard, Arc Poetry, Carte Blanche, The Literary Commune, and L'Impromptu. She has appeared in numerous literary festivals and reading series including the Growing Room Festival, AfterWord, Word Vancouver, Victoria Festival of Authors, LiterAsian, the North Shore Writers Festival, SFU's Lunch Poems, and Emily Carr's On Edge Reading Series; and has facilitated creative writing and art workshops for a number of festivals and community writing programs.

Adrienne Drobnies' first book of poetry Salt and Ashes has been released this year by Signature Editions. She is a graduate of the SFU Writer’s Studio and has a doctorate in chemistry. Her poetry has appeared in The Antigonish Review, Event, Riddle Fence, The Toronto Quarterly, and The Maynard. She is an editor of a collection of poetry in French, Poèmes sur Mesure, by her late husband Alain Fournier. Her poetry has received honourable mention in the Compton Poetry Prize and was shortlisted for the Vallum Award for poetry. Her long poem, Randonnées, won the Gwendolyn MacEwen Award for Best Suite of Poems by an Emerging Poet, and was a finalist for the CBC literary award.

The Burnaby Writers' Society will host a critiquing workshop at the gallery prior to the readings (6:15 – 7:45 p.m.). Feel free to attend one or both portions of these events.
