Announcing our 2016 contest winners


We're delighted to announce the winners of our 2016 writing contest, "400 Years After Shakespeare"

First prize – Cristy Watson for “Reverence (For William Shakespeare)”

Second prize – Franci Louann for “Life As A Mortal Coil”

Third prize – Judy Millar for “Behind the Bard”

Honourable Mention – Alvin Ens for “Why Do I Love Shakespeare”

Finalist – Keith Bramwell “The Return of the Bard”

This year’s theme was “400 Years After Shakespeare” – prose and verse celebrating the 400th anniversary of the Bard.  Congratulations to everyone who entered, for their clever takes on  a challenging theme. We'll be honouring the winners at our Awards Night on Thursday, October 18,  7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Burnaby Arts Council’s Deer Lake Gallery, 6584 Deer Lake Avenue. The winners will read their entries and prizes will be presented, with light refreshments to follow.  Admission is free, and visitors are welcome.
