Spoken INK returns on third Tuesdays

Announcing our Spoken INK guest readers for January and February 2011

January 18 -- Shauna Paull

Shauna Paull is a poet, educator and community advocate. She completed an MFA in Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia in 1999. Since then, she has led creative writing workshops at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts in Deer Lake Park, Burnaby and the Emily Carr Institute of Arts and Design, and Poetry for the People workshops at the Rhizome Café.  Shauna represented Canada at the UN Commission on the Status of Women in 2006. roughened in undercurrent, her book of poems, was published in 2008 by Leaf Press.

Also confirmed for January’s event is Maggie Witzsche, poet, painter and film maker, who plays improvisational blues, heavy metal and rock on electric guitar. She is a graduate of Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design. Her poetry, visual art, painting, music, and writing influence each other.

Spoken INK open mic readings are held on the third Tuesday of each month, September to June, at La Fontana Cafe, 101-3701 East Hastings at Boundary Road, North Burnaby.
