Fortieth anniversary celebration


Founded in 1967, the Burnaby Writers' Society is among British Columbia's oldest and best-known community writers’ groups. In proud celebration of our fortieth birthday, we’re hosting a free public reading on Thursday, October 4th (the fourth day of the fortieth week) to be held in the Burnaby Arts Council Gallery, 6584 Deer Lake Avenue, Burnaby (below the Shadbolt Centre, across from Burnaby Village Museum) The time is 7:30 p.m, admission is free, and the public is cordially invited to attend.

Reading from their recently published or forthcoming books are poets Diane Tucker (Bright Scarves of Hours), Pam Galloway (Parallel Lines), Susan McCaslin (Lifting the Stone),and Sheila Rosen (A Kind of Mercy; young adult authors Linda DeMeulemeester (The Secret of Grim Hill) and Eileen Kernaghan (Wild Talent: a novel of the supernatural); and short story writer Fred Booker (Adventures in Debt Collection).
